Calgary JuJitsu Lie!
If your Sensei is having you grade every three months there is no way this is pure JuJitsu. If your classes seem more like fitness than JuJitsu that's because they are. Fitness plays a roll, however get fit on your own time, you don't need to pay your Sensei to show you how to kick 100 times in a row.
It takes around 4 years to earn your Black Belt in Goshinkan JuJitsu but can take upwards of 7 years. If you are a Blue or Purple belt and you have put in only one year of JuJitsu training, some Sensei is simply trying to sell you a Belt.
Did you join JuJitsu to earn belts? There are many simpler styles of martial arts if you just want to get belts. I have Blue belts that have been doing GMA for two years and are two belts below some others but have 10 times the skills.
If you want to learn the pure Goshinkan JuJitsu don't take a substitute program claiming to be Goshinkan-Ryu JuJitsu. Just because they stole the book does not make them a certified recognized instructor in the style.
Send Sensei Lintott and email and find out the truth! No one likes to be made a fool of or lied too! We don't post a bunch of poorly done videos of low level techniques being done incorrectly on the web, because anyone who walks onto out mats knows in about 5 minutes what JuJitsu is.

Turn Around and Look
We keep on students about keeping their hands up in their fence during a teachnique, and throughout the technique, but what about after the technique. Generally when people are ambushed or assault in an un-provoked physical assault it is when they fail to recognize their threat or they have their hands down.
Some of the best martial arts kickers I have ever seen, often drop or open thier fence (hands) while excuting their highly accurate kicks. It does not matter how fast your kick or punch is, or how accurate, if you drop your fence or open it up someone may be able to unleash a pyhsical assault on you and your self defense tools will be in the wrong place.
Please don't be one of these people who fail to recognize the threat or drop the fence. Maybe it's time you tried one of the oldest and most complete Martial Arts self-defense systems in Alberta, Goshinkan-Ryu JuJitsu with several locations to serve you in your defense.

Meaing of Goshinkan
Goshinkan is composed of three Japanese words: Go, Shin and Kan. As with many Japanese words these have many translations, since the meaning of Japanese words often depends on the situation they are put in.
Go means the five virtues of a warrior, according to Bushido, as well as the five virtues of a Goshin student. It also represents the five steps to a confrontation response, which are: exit or talk, distract, move in, takedown, & hold-down. Lastly, it can be interpreted as hard techniques and movements.
Kan is the hall or school for the stuy of the way. Kan is also the meaning for Canadian Style of Ju-Jitsu.
Goshinkan - is the home of self preservation; home of the strong spirit and school of self-defense.
Goshinkan Ju Jitsu is not a “style” of Ju Jitsu. I find it very hard to say that one individual can invent a style. I believe many people contribute to all martial arts, style or not. I have studied both modern and traditional arts; there is something from every art I have studied in our syllabus. The more we try and refine one set style and claim it as our own the less the art has left. I even wonder how many of the traditional arts I have studied were as accurate as the Sensei said they were. Techniques often have the influence of the Sensei and this is only natural. If you have ever been in a classroom where one person tells a short sentence to the person next to them until the whole group has passed on the sentence, the original topic is completely different than the last person’s topic. That being said, how could one individual pass on a martial art from generation to the next generation and say it never changed?
